Londoners can now enjoy all East Anglia has to offer for less with Greater Anglia’s new Weekend Return Fare.

The new ticket is launched alongside the rail operator’s new UNLONDON campaign, which encourages more people to escape the capital and enjoy a mini break in the East of England.

Passengers can leave London Liverpool Street at any time on Friday or Saturday and return at any time on Sunday or Monday with the new Long Weekender ticket.

These new tickets offer greater flexibility, so customers do not have to opt for a specific train. They are available to buy now at ticket offices, and will be available on the Greater Anglia app and website from Friday 18 July

Example Weekend Return Fares:

  • London Liverpool Street to Manningtree: £40
  • London Liverpool Street to Bury St Edmunds: £47
  • London Liverpool Street to Norwich: £58
  • London Liverpool Street to Cambridge [GA only]: £31
  • London Liverpool Street to Ely [GA only] £32
  • London Liverpool Street to Frinton-on-Sea: £43
  • London Liverpool Street to Felixstowe: £45
  • London Liverpool Street to Woodbridge: £45
  • London Liverpool Street to Beccles: £52
  • London Liverpool Street to Lowestoft: £59
  • London Liverpool Street to Great Yarmouth/Hoveton & Wroxham/Cromer/Sheringham: £59

Railcards can also be used when purchasing the new Weekend Return ticket, making it even better value for money.

The region is home to vibrant cities, tranquil countryside, and miles of coastline, and is one of 30 locations Lonely Planet named as the must-visit places around the world to see in 2025 – and the only one in the UK.

Greater Anglia has been working with Visit East of England, which runs the Suffolk and Norfolk Local Visitor Economy Partnership (LVEP), to develop destination guides, itineraries, and support Influencer trips as part of the UNLONDON campaign.

The UNLONDON campaign aims to encourage those in the capital who are feeling tired and stressed out to escape the city and visit East Anglia where they can decompress and relax.

Martin Moran, Commercial Director, Greater Anglia, said:
“We are extremely proud to serve the East of England. Our new Weekend Return ticket and UNLONDON campaign offer Londoners the opportunity to escape the city and explore and unwind for less.
“Rail is the most environmentally friendly way to travel after walking and cycling. There are many great destinations on our network, and our region has so much to offer, and whether it’s a trip to the city or coast, shopping or sightseeing, we are giving people more money to spend on having a great time by helping them save money on their train fare.”
Visit East of England Executive Director Pete Waters said:
“This is an incredibly exciting campaign from Greater Anglia, and we’re thrilled to be partnering with them to encourage more staying visitors by rail to this region. Whether you want coast and beach, tranquil Broads waterways, a relaxing city break or peaceful countryside, this is the perfect place to UNLONDON and get away from the hustle and bustle of the capital.”

To celebrate UNLONDON, Greater Anglia has teamed up with Visit East of England to offer a full break away, including train tickets and spending money. Full details of the Prize Draw can be found here.

Rail passengers can add PlusBus to their rail ticket in several destinations so they can further explore the area.
