May/June Lowestoft Roundup with Ann-marie

Apr 15, 2025

Well Hello there you!

Well Hello there you!

Thank you for reading! My name is Ann-marie and I am the brand new, official Lowestoft Tourism columnist for Live Local magazine. I run a PR & Events business here called Magnus PR and I have been waving the flag for our little seaside town for a very long time.

In each edition of Live Local magazine, I’ll be sharing event highlights, fun facts, and useful information about our wonderful area., and to kick off my very first column, I’m thrilled to tell you all about the return of the Lowestoft Carnival which features a ‘Past and present’ theme.

Lowestoft hasn’t seen a carnival since 2012, so it’s an honour to be part of the committee for this fantastic event. To celebrate, I’ve also created the brand-new ‘We Love Lowestoft’ branding, which will feature on merchandise and flags for the big day!

I cannot take all the credit however, as Des Reynolds from the Seagull Theatre is the true mastermind and the man who has been able to make this all happen. The event will take place over two days—Saturday, August 16th, and the main carnival day on Sunday, August 17th.

Saturday’s festivities will include a children’s theatre festival on Royal Green, while Sunday will feature a vibrant carnival with a funfair, food stalls, live music, and entertainment on Royal Green from 10 AM onward. The carnival procession will begin at 2pm and will commence from Kirkley Park Road, onto London Road South, looping at the former Notley’s building, and making its way past Royal Green, Claremont Pier, before finishing at Kensington Gardens. There are currently 23 floats/vehicles and 11 walking groups, which is fantastic!

There is still plenty of time to take part, so if you would like to have your own float or walking parade, then please apply by visiting the website www.theseagull.co.uk/carnival.

That’s all for now folks! See you soon!
